IN BRIEF
- In the age of alt-facts, it’s become increasingly difficult to know which sources to trust when it comes to the news, even for seasoned journalists. Some of North America’s most prominent minds in investigative journalism convened at Banff Centre in October, 2017, to tackle questions about protecting the public interest and differentiating truth from fake news. The summit was called The Democracy Project: Journalism in the Age of Alt-Facts. In this video Robert Cribb (Toronto Star), Jessica Johnson (The Walrus), Ron Nixon (New York Times) and Scott Stossel (the Atlantic), break down some of those issues faced by journalists and the general public in the interest of democracy.
